چکیده
R. Paul Philp obtained his B.Sc. degree in chemistry from the University of Aberdeen in 1968 and his Ph.D. and D.Sc. degree from the University of Sydney in 1972 and 1998, respectively. He is currently a geochemistry professor at the University of Oklahoma. His interests include geochemical characterization of unconventional gas shales, characterization of novel biomarkers and high-molecular-weight hydrocarbons, and use of stable isotopes in environmental problems.

Comparison of Three Key Marine Shale Reservoirs in the Southeastern Margin of the Sichuan Basin, SW China
This study performs a comprehensive comparison of three key marine shale reservoirs in the southeastern margin of the Sichuan Basin, and explains why commercial gas production was only achieved in the Lower Silurian Longmaxi (LSL) and Upper Ordovician Wufeng (UOW) formations, but not in the Lower Cambrian Niutitang (LCN) formation. The experimental methods included in situ gas content and gas c...
متن کاملOrganic and Nonorganic Characterization of the Bakken, Marcellus, Pierre, and Woodford
The development of effective strategies for hydrocarbon extraction through unconventional shales requires a comprehensive understanding of shale petrophysical properties – specifically the variability of fabric, composition, matrix, porosity, permeability, and thermal maturity/organic content [1-5]. Unconventional resource extraction from shale can involve the injection of carbon dioxide (CO2) ...
متن کاملPetrography, Mineralogy and Geochemistry of Kuhkamar Shale in the Roum section (South of Qayen): Application for Provenance and Tectonic setting
The Kuhkamar shale with a thickness of 354 m is composed of siliciclastic rocks (sandstone and shale). Petrography studies of the sandstones in this area show two petrofacies including arkose and sub-arkose. These sandstones composed of sub rounded to moderately sorted; therefore, compositionaly to texturaly, they are immature to submature with mono and polycrystalline quartz and k-feldespar. I...

The mineralogy and geochemistry of Paleocene shales and interbedded siltstones in the southwestern of Ahar town (NW Iran) were studied by optical microscopy, XRD, SEM, XRF, and ICP-MS techniques. The mineralogical composition, mainly characterized by calcite, quartz, feldspar, dolomite, muscovite, magnesiohornblende, chlorite, illite, montmorionite, palygorskite, and koninckite, suggests relati...
متن کاملGeology, ore mineralization and geochemistry of Sorkheh sedimentary copper occurrence, northwest of Marand, NW Iran
The sedimentary copper mineralization of the Sorkheh area is located about 20 km northwest of Marand, East-Azarbaidjan Province, northwest Iran. The most important lithologic units in this area include sandstones and red-color shales, with the Late Miocene age, that are intruded by lamprophyric dike. The copper mineralization in the study area occurred as stratiform laminations and disseminatio...
